What follows is a brief description of the various paddle styles. Each individual paddle also has it's own description when you click on that particular link.
Medium weight: Medium weight paddles start out with the Standard, which has a solid Tulip shaft and a blade laminated from Tulip, walnut and has Maple edging. This paddle weighs approx. 22 ounces. I have a new paddle I call the Standard Lite, has a shaft with a basswood core and tulip stress pieces (the pieces outside the core) This is a very lightweight, strong configuration, with pleasant, mild colors. Around 20 ounces for the Lite. I generally try to keep the medium weight paddles at 20 ounces or above.
lightweight and Hybrid: Lightweight paddles are paddles under 20 ounces, and that range down to around l4 ounces, with a Carbon fibre blade. The ultralite is mostly cedar, and weights around 20 ounces The Balsa version is a few ounces less, and could be as low as 17-18 ounces depending on the layup. The new Purple Lite is around l8 ounces, and is quite unique! I am also going to have a Red-Lite, which is around 20 ounces, and sports a red blade! The new Black and Blue is a wood core blade with a carbon fibre shaft; the blade is blue! This one weighs in around 15-16 ounces. Both of my new carbon style paddles have some flex -- so they aren't too hard on your joints. .
Colored blades Colored blades are my standard paddles with a colored blade; I call them Gillespie-Yums! Colors I use are baby blue, red and purple.
Not quite finished....
(junk Pile!!)Not...these are discounted paddles. Just as it sounds, this section is where I put all those paddles that are not quite up to snuff, or are just prototypes that never really went anywhere. These paddles are all very useable, l00% up to snuff, and would love to be of service! There are some trully great deals here, and I recommend checking back regularly!
What's new? Well, this section is new! And I come up with new stuff fairly often, so here's where you'll find new paddles!
